Day 1 & 2 + first impressions

Day 1 6-2-13 NL-Dubai.

It was snowing, we left early, but still we had traffic troubles. I was saving pages of my book and the battery of my ipod, but in the end I only listened about three songs. We said our goodbyes and got in contact with the rest. There was a lot of excitement in the group at Schiphol, and everybody made photos of the plain (one of the biggest in the world?). In the plain I sat next to Dave and Lisa, and next to that sat Sergio, we were in the middle row of the plain. I’ve watched a film, did some games, also poker with some others of the group, that was very nice. The meal was quite ok, the dessert was delicious :)



Day 2 7-2-13 Dubai-Capetown-Genadendal.

In Dubai it’s warm, and we wear long trousers, when we tried to cool ourselves with some water, that was warm too. On the airport we could pay with euros (no cents), but then we would get Arabian money back -.- The airplane to South-Africa was a lot smaller and less luxurious. Again in the middle, this time next to Lotte and next to that again Sergio. We couldn’ t watch movies very easily, so we could only sleep, which wasn’t easy either. Breakfast came quite fast, and lunch too. The meals were quite big, also warm meals, which we aren’t used to eat as breakfast or lunch.
It was really warm when we arrived at Capetown, the sun and the warm breeze made us so happy, it’s SUMMER! Our buddies waited for us at the airport, it was very sweet, with banners and they also sang for Lonneke, who’s birthday was that day. My buddy, Jadine is very nice. The nature we went through was great, the mountains, the earthy colours, it’s so beautiful here... I’m totally going to miss that when I’m back. The hostel is also quite nice, there are large bathrooms for the boys and the girls and there’s a nice courtyard (binnenplaatsje). I’m on a room with Demi, Mae-ling, Lisa, Loes, Emma (all IC’ers) and Nathalie, Nienke, Iris and Lonneke form the OBC. There is another girl’s room (9) and one big room for the boys (11). In total 29 students and 5 leaders, who sleep in a separate building, next to ours.
For dinner we had bread, because we didn’t felt like a very big meal. Then there was the disco at the school, everyone was tired and didn’t really want to go, but it was great! All the South-Africans form the school were there, they have such great moves, it was amazing. They also wanted to teach us and show us, there were people dancing with us that we didn’t even know! They were all very nice and we had a lot of fun. We were home at 11.00 p.m., and we needed to get up at six the next morning, because 7.30 school begins.

HOLLAND

Het is een beetje veel moeite om dit nu allemaal over te typen, het is al een week geleden geschreven, zit nu in internetcafe in genadendal en het is hier WARM, poeh, maar buiten best koud.. dus balen.
Ff korte samenvatting, dan plaats ik daarna dag 3-4 als ik tijd genoeg heb! Die staan al geschreven in mobiel, maar ben ook m'n boekje vergeten -.- KEIDOM! Maar oke, waarschijnlijk toch niet genoeg tijd.

De vliegreis viel best mee! Ik had het heel heftig verwacht, het opstijgen is wel vet, net een achtbaan ;p In dubai wa het superwarm, maar we bleven er niet lang. Het eerste vliegtuig was superluxe, dus het tweede viel wel tegen, toen vooral geslapen, de eerste vlucht helemaal niet. In capetown was het superlekker weer!! Echt zo'n zomergevoel toen we naar buiten liepen, heerlijk! Er zijn mooie bergen hier en mooie kleuren, ik vind het echt supermooi, en ga denk ik wel balen als ik weer in ons platte saaie land zit. De groep is erg leuk, de buddies en onze groep is zelf ook gwn fantastisch. De accomodatie is oke, ik slaap met OBC'ers en IC'ers op de kamer en hebben echt lol, supergezellig. We hadden de eerste dag ook gelijk een disco, nou daar zaten we niet op te wachten, waren supermoe. Maar het was een soort schoolfeest, er was goeie muziek en al die Afrikanen gingen helemaal los, echt keileuk. Ze lieten ons ook moves zien en sommigen kenden we niet eens, superleuk en gezellig!
