When we got to the safari park we needed to sign a paper, probably something that we have our own responsibilities, like when we get killed by a lion or such… We got to see four of the big five, the leopard doesn’t come out at day, and I’m not sure if they had them in the park. There where separate zones were the animals walked around, it was too bad the buffalos and the elephants were ‘bad’ and therefore kept behind fence/electrical wire. We drove in big trucks, open at the side and it was really cool. When we got in the zone with the lions we could go over stones and bushes, and one time I really thought we would fall over, which we didn’t! The lions were about three or five meters away, and I had the luck that the male lion was at my side, so I got some good pictures. At the beginning he growled, that was a bit frightening... We also saw ‘hartebeesten’ and ‘springbok’ and gnu’s. When we came to the rhino’s we saw their horns were cut off, to protect them from getting poached, too bad that’s necessary. The driver of our truck disappointed us by telling we weren’t going to see the elephants anymore, but in the end he did drove us to them, yay! It was really cool, but too bad they weren’t free. The biggest shock was when one of the two started peeing, and it was like he had five legs...
After the safari we got rice and chicken and some delicious dessert, it was too bad I missed the chocolate mousse, because I tasted some and it was really great. After lunch there was a man playing on a djembé and some minutes later everyone was sitting and playing this beat, it sounded really great. The bus back to Genadendal was super warm. We played a game with all kind of questions when we got home, with Demi, Lonneke, Nienke, Nathalie and Iris. Dinner was nice, we had all kinds of left over’s from the past days. Corn, pizza, wraps etc. and afterwards washing dishes with some music on.
In the evening we had a conversation, mainly about the fundraising, there are some good ideas already. Tomorrow nine o’clock on the boat, hopefully we can spot dolphins, sea lions and penguins and perhaps even a whale. After that we’re going to swim and after that we go to Hermanus. Further on I have a sore throat, I really have to look for sweets to nibble on. I’ve texted Rense and Evelien, but I only got €5,70 prepaid left. I hope to find gifts for Sanne, Marlon, Inge and Evelien on the market in Hermanus, and also something for Rense, but he says he doesn’t need something, not useful!
